About Walter Hardeman

I began my fitness journey at age 13 where I was first introduced to Flex Magazine. Once I saw what was possible with the human body, I knew I wanted that for myself, and I began training. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I knew I needed to work out and eat to grow. In my junior year of high school I competed in my first highschool-sanctioned bodybuilding contest. I then continued training and competing in my senior year.

After graduating, I joined the military and continued to work out. As we say, life took over, and for the next 22 years I ventured in several aspects of fitness. I took up Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in 2000, and for the next 15 years that became my fitness
focus of choice.

In 2014, I learned a work colleague was a Men’s Physique competitor. I went to watch him compete in November of that year and the moment I saw all the competitors, I knew I got bit by the bug again. I immediately started training and did my first show in 24 years in 2015. The level of competition was different that I had ever experienced, but I knew I belonged on the stage. The following year I competed on the national stage, and that was a humbling experience. I knew I could do better, and I knew I belonged as an IFBB pro.

I am now a National Level qualified athlete and will continue to push myself until I achieve the goal I set out after opening that Flex Magazine. I am also a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with
specializations in Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning (MMACS), Corrective Exercise (CES) and currently pursuing a specialization in Fitness Nutrition (FNS).
